Additional Resources:
**Museum of Foreign Groceries**: Imagines of grocery products from around the world!

Journals and Periodicals: The Journal of Teaching in International Business and The Journal for Global Business Education. These are great resources because they "provide research-based studies related to curriculum planning, faculty development, and instructional strategies," (NBEA Yearbook, 2008, pg. 229). You may need to order this resource online or look for it in a library database.

References Books:
Kiss, Bow or Shake Hands (Morrison & Conaway, 2006), Global Business Etiquette: A Guide to International Communication and Customs (Martin & Chancey, 2006).

The World Fact Book:
The World Fact Book is a valuable resources for an international business course because it contains information from nearly every country in the world. According to the website, "The World Fact Book provides information on the history, people, government, economy, geography, communications, transportation, military, and transnational issues for 266 world entities."
The information found on this website could be used to help students with research reports, assignments, or even exams. It may also serve as a starting point for the development of lessons and activities.

ide@s: This site is a valuable tool for educators. It provides educators with "teacher-reviewed, standards-aligned lessons, interactive tools, video, high-quality digital images, & other resources for use in curriculum development and classroom instruction." The website includes lesson plans from many different content areas including international business. Many of the lesson will need to be modified in order to meet the needs of your students.

Government Agencies:

International Trade Administration
This website is useful because it contains information about international trade, trade policies, exporting facts, data and analysis, and more. Students could use this site when researching international businesses and trade related issues. I like this site because it is a government website and enforced by the Department of Commerce.

International Agencies: Many of the following agencies are involved with trade policies, international business, and economic development. Once again, these websites can be used to supplement textbook content and enrich lessons. It may be beneficial to create a web quest around these websites in order to help students become more familiar with the resources provided online. Also, the embassy website is a great resource for students that are interested in traveling internationally. Understanding the function of an embassy is important for the safety of any international traveler.

Attention Getters:

Interactive Whiteboard Activity
Unit:The World of International Business, Marketing in a Global Economy, or Importing and Exporting

Interactive Whiteboard Activity: Koosh Ball
Unit: All.
This activity can be modified for any course. It could be used at the beginning of the class period as a quick review or for to review for a final unit exam. In this smart board activity, you can add more "targets" and questions if needed. It can also be customized with the questions that you would like students to answer. Be sure to set ground rules prior to starting this activity as flying objects in a classroom can get a little dangerous!

Case Study: I want to Go Home!
Unit: International Career Planning or Human Resources Management
Read the case study with the students. Then have students answer the questions related to the case. This case study could easily follow a think-pair-share format.

Brain Drainer's
Unit: All
What is a "brain drainer"? A brain drainer could be a thought provoking question, trivia or statement intended to help a student "drain" his or her brain of the prior classes and refocus his or her attention on your class. The thought provoking questions or statements should be related to the class and preferable the unit. When using brain drainers, you may ask students to write down their reaction or to simply think about it and discuss it with a partner.

Example
Question: Imagine you are an employee with a mid-size company. Your boss just notified you that the company will be moving overseas and would like you to head the new office in Greece. How would you react to this news? What would you do?
Trivia: A recent survey showed that 27 percent of men would like to try this on a business trip, while only 5 percent of women would.... What is it? (bring their spouse)
  • Follow Up Questions: What would the implications be if....
  • How would this impact an employee's performance if his or her spouse traveled with them?
